As the dramatic situation between Infinity Ward and Activision has been settling down lately, Treyarch has found a shining spot to stand in and hype their next iteration in the Call of Duty franchise, Call of Duty: Black Ops. We’re sure this hasn’t gone unnoticed by anyone given the amount of words shooting out of the developer’s mouth lately. And, as it would seem, one of their latest comments would point to Bungie being a competitor this year, what with Halo: Reach being a first-person shooter and all.

Activision’s updated the official Call of Duty site ahead of tonight’s teaser trailer, revealing both the title and release date for this year’s Treayarch-developed game; Call of Duty: Black Ops hits the streets on November 9.

The site is pretty barebones right now. Those visiting are only greeted by a short post from the developers: “We at Treyarch are excited to reveal our latest development – Call of Duty: Black Ops! Be sure to head over to CallOfDuty.com/blackops as more details begin to unfold! Follow @JD_2020 and @Treyarch on Twitter for the latest news & discussions regarding Black Ops.”

The next Call of Duty game will be announced before the week’s out, the promo for this week’s episode of Gametrailers TV teases.

This is in all likelihood the Treyarch-developed, possibly Vietnam-bound title then, not the ‘innovative, audience broadening‘ one that former Dead Space leads at Activision’s new Sledgehammer studio are working on.

The title’s been rumored to carry the Black Ops subtitle and is expected to go head to head with EA’sMedal of Honor reboot this fall.

The promo for the episode (catch here) is a proper tease itself and shows nothing but a simple brand logo. It airs this Friday.
