DICE have today released new HD footage of Battlefield 3 Alpha multi-player. Just yesterday a selected number of individuals were invited to play the Alpha test client of Battlefield 3. Within a few hours, footage began to appear on YouTube showing Alpha testers battling it out on the map Operation Metro. Since then the videos have been taken down and more than likely the Alpha tester(s) in question have been contacted by DICE/EA for violating the NDA (non-disclosure agreement) to which they agreed to.
Activision CEO Bobby Kotick wanted to play Battlefield 3 at E3 2011 yesterday. Only one problem: he had to get past EA.
A senior informant has told CVG of how they witnessed Kotick’s PA discuss Bobby’s chances of a hands-on trial of the military FPS with EA reps on the door of the publisher’s non-public presentation.
Our deepthroat tells us that the female assistant hopped to the front of the EA queue on Wednesday morning (08/06/11). The DICE-developed military title is only being shown behind closed doors in Los Angeles – and not on console.
Squads have always been an important feature to the Battlefield franchise from my years of playing the game and a good squad leader was a massive benefit to the enjoyment of the game. There is no getting away from it. Unlike it’s biggest rival FPS competitor Call of Duty, Battlefield game-types require team work and direction in order to win rounds.
We all know now that Battlefield 3 will not include the commander class as covered in our last article of this series, but what about squad leaders?
DICE has released new screenshots this years Battlefield 3. The screenshots include a look at the ANT tech animation, concept art as well as Frostbite’s exciting lighting effects.
It has only been a month since DICE announced that Battlefield 3 will be released at the end of this year (2011), but it has already generated a lot of discussion. From forums to tweets, everyone is talking about it.
In the first of many articles about the Battlefield franchise here at BVA, I will look at that key features to the Battlefield series and discuss what I feel needs improved upon, what features people expect, why people are sceptical, and what we know so far.

The first public showing of Battlefield 3 took place this evening at an off-site event at the Game Developer’s Conference. There, select press were shown the first chunk of a the single player campaign, and what the technology behind the game; the Frostbite Engine 2, is capable of.
Last year, EA attacked Call of Duty’s hold on the Christmas shooter market with Medal of Honor, with limited success.

Gaming magazine gameinformer, recently had the chance to sit down and talk to DICE’s Karl-Magnus Troedsson, General Manager at DICE, about the company’s approach to creating the long-awaited sequel to Battlefield 2. If you PC gamers do not know by now, DICE has decided that the PC platform will be the lead platform for Battlefield 3! Yup, no console port with this game!
